Google's Robot Challenges the Paris Olympics: Versatile Switch Between Forehand and Backhand, Defeats Professional Coaches
Google has developed the first table tennis robot agent that reaches human competitive level, trained by collecting a vast amount of data and simulating real match environments. The robot competes against human opponents of varying skill levels in both simulated and real-world scenarios, showcasing skills at an intermediate human level. Although it lost all matches against advanced and expert players, it achieved a perfect record against beginners, highlighting its potential in rally competitions. This project enhances the experience of table tennis and opens up new avenues for robotic technology in the realm of competitive sports.
